DIY: How to Build a Duck Coop

This is the finished coop made from recycled wood, new wood and mesh wire for about $150 and a weekends worth of work.

Features:

  • Angled removable roof 
  • flip down lid and ramp
  • wire mesh window
  • wire cage floor

The Frame 

 Top and bottom frame

4 - 3 ft

4 - 5 ft Create the top and bottom perimeter.

2 3x 5 rectangles. legs 8 - 3 ft pieces Next create the legs.

Take 2 Piece and nail edges together to create a wedge. After all 4 legs are created, attach them to the top frame  perimeter. 

Next cut and nail the plywood sides. Add supports to reinforce the floor. Staple in the 1/2 inch wire mesh.

 Next make a roof, cut out a whole for the window and attach the drop down door.

 

And here's the finished product. The ducks are shown walking down the ramp/ door. And that's my son letting them out. He's ready for the duck-apocolypse.
